my friend got these nice tarot cards

but i want to ask a question -there is reverse - so am i suppose flip half of the deck of the card?,what do i do ? any tip about reading the tarot cards?

I have a question about tarot cards?
Hello Sana

How many card that are turned are down to individual, some prefer a few some a quarter or even half the deck. You do not choose which card you reverse. Reversing can be done many ways, divide deck into 3 piles, face down, reverse one %26amp; resume shuffling. You can also turn random cards as you shuffle. %26amp; many other ways!

Some none at all.

Reversing the cards is best done once you have fully studied the upright, %26amp; like said not a neccesity to proficient tarot reading.

If you wish to work clairvoyantly with the tarot then reversed will be of no importance.

I teach the tarot %26amp; run a course, so you can come %26amp; visit us %26amp; practice the tarot as well as ask questions at our yahoo group if you wish ~ Holistic Paths to Wisdom. You will be welcome.

Reply:Did it come w/ a book? I'd do a google search for reading tarot. Here is a link to do a free tarot reading online. You can see how they read the reverse cards.

I suggest getting a book on reading tarot cards if you don't have one.

Reply:The shuffling and mixing should result in some of the cards being turned up reversed. I don't know of a ritual that would have you specifically reverse part of the deck.

The trick to tarot is the same as the trick to any other communication with the supernatural (prayer, divination, ouija, seance, whatever). You need to take it seriously enough that it works and you need to not take it so seriously that it takes over. Ultimately what you are trying to do is connect not with the spiritual realm (whatever that is) but with your own subconcious.
Reply:I dont read in reverse .. but that is just my personal choice

I believe that there are more than enough cards in a deck to cover all angles

so my advice

do whatever feels right to you
Reply:It is a deck of cards,nothing more.No magic.
Reply:different readers see this different ways.

Some say that each Tarot card has its opposite in the deck( not some special deck), so you use those.

Others dispute this, and say that to indicate a negative, a card is upside down. But you don't have to turn any cards in a different direction to do this. Shuffling the cards usually takes care of this.
Reply:get a good book and read the instructions

It's just a tool for looking within yourself or into the person you are reading. The cards themselves have no power. It's just a bunch of symbols that help you focus your natural intuition. If it's upsidedown then you read the opposite or reverse of the usual interpretation. IE the opposite of death would be life or whatever. That's a bit simplistic, but you get the idea. Cards usually come with a book that give you the regular interpretation and the reversal interpretation. Good luck.
Reply:Australian shuffle will mix the cards in both orientations.
Reply:Grow up,get out and get a real life.
Reply:In my experience, a reversed card coming up in a reading mitigates, inverts or modifies the face meaning of the card. (i.e., The Tower reversed is less catastrophic than the Tower upright, or the 5 of swords upright is a plot or betrayal, while the 5 of swords reversed is the plot revealed. It has been years since I read these, so please forgive interpretive errors). If someone is reading for someone else, often times the reader will turn the deck so that it faces with the proper orientation for the one being read for to determine which cards are upright (rightside up for one being read for) and reversed (inverted for the one being read for). To the reader, this will be opposite but it is meant for the one being read for to see the cards properly from his or her perspective.
Reply:Not all readers use reversed cards, it is a matter of personal preference. I use reversals in readings most of the time, but sometimes I don't feel that I need too. Then there are some decks that I have that I don't use reversals at all. Tarot is all about doing what feels right and is comfortable to you.

When one first gets a deck, the cards are in order and all upright. When you shuffle them they should remain all facing the same direction unless you take one hand with half the deck and turn it. When I read with reversals, I will shuffle a couple times and then the next shuffle, I turn the stack, shuffle a few times more and turn half. I have noticed that some people who have trouble shuffling will set down the two stacks and pick them back up in a way that they are holding the cards differently, this causes an unintentional turning of the cards. Shuffling in a manner to keep all cards upright might take practice if shuffling is difficult.

When using reversals and reading them in a spread, I generally take the meaning of the card and then apply the 'opposite' - a happy card becomes on of sorrow. Reversed cards suggests a lacking (lacking happiness), ignoring (ignoring the surrounding happiness), the inability (inability to be happy), disadvantages etc.

Think of things that are positive, this is upright,

think of things that are negative, this is reversed.

Meaning in Tarot Cards?
If you're just learning how to read tarot cards, I'd suggest doing your readings on http://www.ifate.com

It's free, and very easy for beginners to use.

Where u scared to buy tarot cards ?

did something bad happen after u both them

i both my first dack of tarot cards and afraid to use them

Where u scared to buy tarot cards ?
I'm not afraid to buy and use tarot cards at all. I have several decks. They are simply tools to help you focus, not some sort of instrument of demons or other foul beings to steal your soul or something ridiculous like that.
Reply:No, the only warning I have for you is this... don't buy the first deck that you see. Take some time to make sure that you are picking out the right deck for you. If a deck gives off bad vibes or makes you feel uncomfortable, don't get it.

You also want to make sure that your deck is cleansed of other energies. You can read up on that in almost any tarot book.
Reply:Yay for typos and repeated questions!!!

Reply:a little than i was like you i was scarred to use them
Reply:again, they are just tools to know yourself better. no magic or evil behind them
Reply:You might want to be careful with stuff like that. The Bible warns against it very strongly:

31 " 'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God."

Leviticus 19

9 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 18

Tarot cards would fall under divination and omens. Hope this helps :)

I had my tarot cards read!!!?

Who believes in this? I was amazed by what he said! Can anyone tell me anything about tarot cards and any true things that may of happened to you that the tarot cards told you!

I had my tarot cards read!!!?
ah hun, i had my cards done last year because i suspected my partner was cheating on me, i was told a date and that i would get a phone call on this date and everything would come clear,

you can imagine how shocked i was when the phone call came, on the right date, from my partner who told me he was leaving me for our babysitter, ouch, yes that stung a bit.

the cards also told me i would be visiting america shortly after i found out and amazingly, someone bought me a five day break in new york for christmas.

wow

so yes i believe, more now than ever. xxxxx
Reply:I read the cards and I have been told that things came true, but I have never had a reading for myself. I guess I would rather have the surprise than to know what was going to happen. Congrats on finding a true reader and not a scam artist.
Reply:Yes. The reader shuffles them, separates them into piles then makes up a series of what are known as 'Barnum Statements' These are phrases and comments designed to sound as if they apply uniquely to an individual yet are really generic in nature. The reader may also employ what are known as 'Hot' and 'Cold' reading techniques. Hot is where they use information they already have in advance, Cold is where they throw questions at you, but do so in subtle way that leaves you unaware that you have actually been providing information that is then fed back to you.

This combination of techniques can be very impressive. In all modesty, I have to say I'm quite good at it. I've done Tarot reading for people who have sworn I have a gift. Of course, I always 'fess up afterwards. but if I were dishonest, I dare say I could make a fair living out of it.

For more info, see the links below.
Reply:not me
Reply:I read tarot cards for free, too.(usually over the internet) I feel that my ability to do so is a gift and, at this point in my life, to charge would defeat the purpose of why I was given the gift in the first place-- to help people. If someone is truly in need of a reading I feel I have no right to turn them down because they can't afford it.

In my experience, the cards usually show the person what it is that they already know. Usually it is something that they have refused to acknowledge or didn't want to see on their own. Tarot cards have an uncanny knack for bringing what you need to hear and know into the forefront so that you can ignore it or stay in the dark any longer.

I have also had startling accuracy with the cards regarding peoples' current life situations (without being formerly told). And the cards always have advice to give about the situation. It always amazes me how all of the cards work together in a reading towards the same theme.

In regards to the person above who said that if you have a reading done you should shuffle the cards yourself:

Many readers don't like other people to touch their cards. The cards have the readers energy in them and others' energy could "corrupt" the energy.

Like I said, I do readings over the interenet with great results. Everytime I finish a reading I cleanse the cards and say something like this:

"To the Lord and Lady of Love,

Mother Earth and Father Sky

I ask that you cleanse and purify these cards

Of all past associations and energies (those of the previous person I read for)

So that whoever should require information or knowledge of them next

Hear not what they want but what they NEED to hear.

With the greatest good to all with harm to none,

So Mote it Be."

When I do this I have a piece of selenite on top of the deck. Selenite, metaphysically, is one of the only stones that has the property of absorbing and neutralizing all negative energy. I also have a piece of hematite, which grounds the energy that was in the cards, and a piece of quartz, which is an amplifying stone. In this way, the cards are cleansed of everything that had been previously put in them, both from myself and the person read for.

That way, when the next person I'm reading for (who is the next person who 'requires information or knowledge' from them) is talking to me before the reading begins I shuffle the cards, and in this way their energy is put into the cards so those that they need to see come up.

Usually I let them talk until 4 -5 cards either fall out of the deck or flip themselves within the deck. That way I know those are the cards I need to pull for them. (Anymore than 4 or 5 cards can take a LONG time to read for over the internet when most of it is cdone through a messenger program!)

My point is that you don't HAVE to be there in person to get an accurate reading! In fact, some studies have been done that suggest pretty conclusively that psychic abilities traverse both time and space which is exactly why you don't have to be physically present to have an accurate reading.

Reply:They were thought to be originated in Egypt. The Renaissance Tarot is thought to be the most widely used today. Personally I prefer using oracles for self healing rather than fortunes, but they do work for those that use them.
Reply:It depends who does your cards! I had my cards done a few times. Two fortune tellers were absolutely brilliant, told me so many things they couldn't have known and really their predictions turned out to be true if i saw others who were not so good and told me stuff that didn't add up, didn't happen either. I guess some people are really good at it. Having said that both of those who gave me true readings (True because it all came true) were also mediums! So maybe it added up to what they saw in the cards?
Reply:Go to another one not with the same person and they will tell you something completly different, I did this once just to prove a point to a mate, and it worked i would of died at 30 had kids when i was 32 and had a big white house(now true only because i was given it) and lived abroad. I could go on they all said near enough the same thing but that was just general life they were talking about!

Just try it is actually quite funny listening to some who is a seriously bad actor tell you whats in store,

Life is what you make it!
Reply:I have a different take on Tarot cards - they are for stimulating thought, they are not meant to be predictions of the future (I can almost guarantee they will be inaccurate most of the time). Don't take them too seriously.
Reply:I read Tarot cards for people. I've stopped doing house calls, nowadays; those who need readings from me have come to me, because I'm not so spry as I used to be.

I ask for no money when doing a reading, and that usually serves to clear a lot of the air between me and my client. I do this for the clients, and I make sure that those who come for readings genuinely need them - hence, no more house calls, or stalls out at MBS fayres, for that reason.

As for the accuracy of the statements I make:-

- I told a young man that he would meet the woman who was to be the love of his life while he was on an extended journey abroad. I told him it would be for months, not weeks. He went to the States on an extended working visa, and guess what? The woman who was to be his fiancee was over there.

- I told another young man, a Portuguese student, that he would make his name back home when he was done with his course. I told him that the reason for this was his winning personality. He got a job back home, partly because the interviewer apparently "liked his smile", but also partly I suspect because I'd given him prescriptive information which helped him realise his future.

- One further thing; I informed a young woman and her daughter that there would be "car trouble" on the woman's journey home, a trip from the North of England to Weston - super - Mare. The woman got into a traffic accident involving a motorcycle flying off a trailer and onto her car that same evening. The woman and the daughter both survived intact, but their car was a wreck.

Some days I frighten myself with the accuracy of the readings the cards detail for me. No, they're not nonsense. There is a very real power in the cards, but the full extent and range of that power comes out only when they are used by a reader whose heart and soul are already filled with wisdom and experience.
Reply:It's rubbish! How can a pack of cards know anything - Doh

Proof? Try getting another reading or deal out the cards twice in succession - do you deal out exactly the same hand???

No?
Reply:i strongly believe in tarot cards and can read them myself....i started about 2 years ago and it is truly amazing!!!!!!the number of things that i have predicted and have come true are truly extraordinary!!!!!after practicing reading the cards for a while i began getting more curious towards the cards themselves and how they work.......i read up on the cards and fouund out that tarot is actually the most practical form of astrology, each card denotes an experience which a person can have during their life-time whether it is joy, love, hate, jealously or dissapointment....it is all there! the theory of the tarot is that our future is known only to us an our body.....hence when we pick the cards up, our body tells us the answers to our questions, the mind knows which card represents what even when it is face down! that is the power of the brain and the tarot. what i truly enjoy about is how it manages to be so flexible, the tarot will never say that this HAS to happen in your life it will point in the direction of where your life is going at present and what you can do to change it.
Reply:A lot of "fortune tellers" are just good at reading people ... they tell you what you want to hear, good or bad ... gypsy's got a bad name because of this ... its an art, like anything else ... and the one thing that is still being looked at, is how far a person will go on the statement of another, if the listener thinks that the person saying it knows more than them ... careful how you react to readings ... if you don't believe me ... next time you have a reading ... ask them to tell you about your past (this life), they will be off by a long long ways
Reply:I have been reading Tarot cards for quite a while, mostly for my friends and one of my professors who asks me to do such when I can for him. According to them, it is not my prediction of future events that is accurate, and I will agree with them on that. People can change their destinies, after all, and alter the future. But what they claim is extremely accurate in my readings is my ability to find out what is really bugging them.

I have a certain style wherein I don't ask the one requesting the reading to tell me their question unless they want to. For some odd reason, though, my cards always point out the real concerns of the questioner, and they do this almost without fail. It can get a little uncomfortable sometimes, especially when the questioner has asked an initial question and then, after I've laid down a few cards the cards tell me that there is some other, underlying concern that the person has on his or her mind.

This has happened even with people whom I am not all that familiar with, like my professor, for example. Although we share some form of friendship, I'm not so close to him that I have intimate knowledge of his personal life. However, whenever I read the cards for him, I turn up details about such intimate things as his family and love life - these being his primary concerns in life.

Recently I read the cards for him, and in his usual fashion he asked me to read for him without asking what was on his mind. When I read the cards, they told me about trouble in the immediate vicinity, involving a colleague or a friend, but not one that involved him directly. True enough, a huge, messy incident had indeed happened recently at the department, but I hadn't heard about it and was surprised to find out about it from him. Just as the cards said, they did indeed involve a colleague or a friend - as a matter of fact, the person in question was both his friend and a colleague of his at the department. The conflict concerned this friend and colleague of his, another part-time teacher at the department, and a cache of sensitive and important files that should not have been distributed on the Web. It caused such an uproar in the department that, even two weeks after it had all happened, nearly everyone was still walking on eggshells about it.

As I laid more cards down, something else came up: possession of an inheritance. When I asked him about it, he said that his grandfather had recently died, and that he had left quite a large sum of money behind. The lawyers were still dealing with it, but legally, a fairly large chunk of that money should be passed on to my professor.

There have been other incidents in the past, but I don't really keep track of them much. Still, I have read for a lot of people, more than a handful of them almost complete strangers to me (in that I don't know much about their life), and they all say that when I point out their problems and concerns, I'm fairly accurate about it.
Reply:don't believe any of it. it's all b0ll0cks
Reply:"Tarot readings" have the same qualities as horoscopes and any other so-called predictive readings; they contain details vague enough that they will often seem to come true regardless of what happens! You should read "Why People Believe Weird Things" by Micheal Shermer.

I ran the numerology on your screen-name, and I can tell you are a basically kind person of slightly above-average intelligence %26amp; intellect, but there are some things about you that you would very much like to change. You should read his book.
Reply:I read cards for people, often for nothing so I don't do it to make money. The cards never lie, but you must understand that the reading tells you about your life on the path you are on, things that will happen if you carry on the way you are, but that's all it's down to you if these things happen, your life is your own, don't let the cards rule it, I know some people that will not start their day until they have read their cards, this is silly.

Some will tell it's rubbish, but the truth is the cards never lie, and if someone is saying that then they either have never had the cards read, or had someone who was a con doing the reading.

I have foretold births, change of jobs, I have told people they will be moving, and that someone new coming in to their lives, and so far i have never been wrong, but watch out because some will change £35 or more for a reading, so shop around paying more does not mean a better reading.

Reply:my name is brian bruce, i go by mournyngwolf and i have been doing readings for 17 years and i am a certified tarot master with the canadian tarot network. i originally got into tarot to find out the gimmick and found out they work on age age old psychological principles of archetypes. but they do work. they work well with someone who knows what they are and understands how to deal with people in general. there are 78 cards that for some reason fit exactly what is needed for archetypical understanding, so they can be right on and vague at the same time

go ahead and contact me from my picture here for any further questions ( i generally dont do readings online )
Reply:abut 10 years ago i was told I'll move my country a year later i moved to England and staid, at the time of the reading i was happy where i was and couldn't imagine moving anywhere.
Reply:The Tarot is sacred and magic. It should be respected as such.

It is the most ancient book of old passed religions. It contains the universal thoughts of human kind and all their religions pictured on classified cards that only few adepts know how to read with the ancient knowledge. Unfortunately it is used by novices for fun or for money and they do not know what they are dealing with. It can even be dangerous when used without knowing. Many cards named Tarots are just a schematic representation of the imagination of the drawer without any knowledge. It may be fun for them but not for others. The only genuine Tarot is called "Le Tarot de Marseille" (in French). It contains all the symbols of the most remote antiquity from where the word Tarot itself comes from and yet no one knows what the word means.
Reply:When it comes to Tarot or palm reading for that matter it depends on how well the reader knows what they are reading!! I had a guy read my palm and told me id be married by 25 ill be 25 this x-mas and never have been!! I still believe in it I just think he was off by a couple of years!
Reply:I knew you were going to ask that
Reply:Well, just for the record, if you're going to a tarot read, you should be the one to shuffle and deal out the cards and they just act as an interpreter.

Else they're reading their own fortune.
Reply:I don't believe in tarot cards. It is all phony.

Tarot cards and astrology?

are they the same thing?

i find astrology to be an interpurtation of the stars, that cant be sinful can it?

same thing with tarot card...i find it just an interpurtation found by putting in energy

Tarot cards and astrology?
Astrology is a "science" that is used to determine what factors and influences were or will be in place at certain times and in certain places. It is used to determine when is the best time to hold certain events, etc.

Tarot is used to understand the circumstances of a person's situation and to help them make decisions. By looking at the cards, they notice certain things in the picture, letting their subconscious tell them what they already know.

Basically, tarot helps you make decisions and astrology helps you to determine when the best time is to enact those decisions.
Reply:Astrology is sinful because it attributes destiny to the stars rather than to the providence of God. Tarot card reading is sinful because it is an attempt to bypass God to determine what one's path in life should be.

God wants us to depend upon Him for guidance, not the stars or tarot cards.
Reply:IMO both are BS... same as religion.
Reply:Don't know about the first one. Know about the second one........nothing evil whatsoever !

A chart IS energy. Different kinds.
Reply:If you are an astrology junkie like me, being told you have Asteroids in Uranus isn’t really what you want to know.

In my profession as a precognitive psychic, my international client base is, in the main, filled with people who want to know what’s going to happen next in their practical affairs; love and relationships, careers, travel, finances and so forth. Spiritual questions dealing with the meaning of one’s life are also frequently asked.

When I incorporated astrology into my psychic coaching practice it was paramount for me to be able to ‘cut to the chase’.

Astrology is generally view as a why of understand self and relationships.

Tarot has many different uses. Many people use it as a means of divination (trying to understand the future). But it has many other uses, including understanding the spiritual universe, a meditation tool, a means of telling sacred stories, etc.

If you're into this sort of thing it is often helpful to study both since understanding planetary influences will help one to better understand tarot symbology.

Reply:astrology is more of a science .. with the astrologer being able to tell how the stars and their position to each other can affect people

tarot cards are just cards with pretty pictures on them .. nothing magical at all .. but the person using the cards would use the cards as a focus for their psychic intuition and be able to tune into a person via the cards

i couldn't tell you if these things are sinful as i am a spiritualist and not a christian .. i can only tell you that i have been using cards for most of my life and i live a very spiritual life and I'm sure god wont judge me on such things
Reply:Tarot cards and astrology are related, but they are not the same.

They aren't sinful ... if they were, why would every major newspaper and magazine in the United States (a heavily Christian nation) print daily horoscopes. There are obviously quite a few people who believe in ... or at least enjoy ... astrology.

Tarot cards are less common ... but I've found that if you take a deck with you in public, most are interested in receiving a "reading".

I find them both to be harmless fun.

Tarot Cards and Affinities?

Do tarot cards have affinities or correspondences to other things such as the zodiac, elements, planets, colors, ect.? And if so, what are they?

Tarot Cards and Affinities?
Most decks follow a traditional Astrological correspondence for the Major Arcana

Which are:

Fool - Uranus

Magician - Mercury

High Priestess - Moon

Empress - Venus

Emperor - Aires

Heirophant - Taurus

Lovers - Gemini

Chariot - Cancer

Strength - Leo

Hermit - Virgo

Wheel of Fortune - Jupiter

Justice - Libra

Hanged Man - Neptune

Death - Scorpio

Temperance - Sagittarius

Devil - Capricorn

Tower - Mars

Star - Aquarius

Moon - Pisces

Sun - Sun

Judgment - Pluto

World - Saturn

There is also the Sign/Planet connections, the planets that rule the signs

Sun/Leo

Moon/Cancer

Mercury/Gemini %26amp; Virgo

Venus/Taurus %26amp; Libra

Mars/Aries

Jupiter/Sagittarius

Saturn/Capricorn

Uranus/Aquarius

Neptune/Pisces

Pluto/Scorpio

For the Minor Arcana Suits (some other thoughts have different correspondences)

Pentacles - Earth, physical/material, Winter, Midnight

Cups - Water, emotional, Summer, Noon

Swords - Air, mental/intellect, Fall, 6pm

Wands - Fire, creative/spiritual/action, Spring, 6am

Some decks will swap the Wands %26amp; Swords, so Wands is Air and Swords is Fire (I like these better for myself)

The Court cards also have signs associated to them, but not everyone agrees what they are. I feel that this is more a personal thing, or how it fits the deck.

For me I use these associations

Pentacles-

King- Capricorn

Queen- Virgo

Knight- Taurus

Swords- (using swords as fire as I do)

King- Leo

Queen- Sagittarius

Knight- Aries

Cups-

King- Pisces

Queen- Cancer

Knight- Scorpio

Wands-

King- Aquarius

Queen- Libra

Knight- Gemini

None of these associations are set in stone, again tarot and associations are a personal thing and can be altered as needed and as your intuition inspires.

Help abt tarot cards?
If you are using Tarot cards as an oracle, you may be more inclined to read card meanings and spreads. But if using Tarot Cards as a tool for Psychic Ability you would be less likely to hold to any hard and fast guide lines. I’m a profession psychic and use Tarot Cards in a random way. In 25 years of professional readings I’ve never used any ‘meanings, spreads or reversals’ of tarot cards from any books.

So if you want to develop ‘Psychic Ability’ throw the books and guidelines away and let the images inspire you. But you may need to try the Rider Waite or another imaged deck.

Here’s the how-to of reading tarot cards with your psychic perception in six simple steps. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/reading-ta...

You can use this four minute video as a brief meditation on the tarot that, repeatedly viewed, will help you learn how to read tarot cards psychically. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/tarotvisio...

To tap in to it more you can go to my free psychic development pages here: http://www.psychic-junkie.com/develop-ps...

But on the other hand, if you want to use the Tarot as an oracle, a form of divination that needs no real ‘psychic ability’, then keep the books and use the meanings and spreads if you prefer.

Here is a free download demo for a great Tarot program. To keep the size of the demo manageable it contains the Rider/Waite deck, the actual program will have 10 complete decks. This Demo version of Tarot is a full working copy for 30 days. So you get 30 days to study meanings and spreads! http://www.free-tarot-download-demo.wots...

There's a lot of debate about the value of online sites for card reading. I think it depends frankly on the sophistication of the site. (Certainly, you have to be able to draw your own cards. It shouldn't be random).
Reply:There are a number of 'famous' cards.

as for pdf, my puter absolutely refuses to dl that...so I can't help ya there.

There is nothing wrong w/ using cards....but it is a tool that needs to be used with respect.

Choosing a deck is a personal thing, and you are the one that must decide which deck attracts you.

as for a site....try the one below.

Reply:Hi there... I have been using the Waite-Rider Pack in my professional Reading. You can get it in any book store or esoteric stores in your area. I have used some other cards but find the waite-rider pack more vibed to me.

as for the lessons, just type tarot lessons in a yahoo search box and you will get tons of sites. I am personally putting up a site that gets in the details of tarot reading that will train anyone to read the tarot like pro, but since i cannot advertise here, then just do a search. You might yet, find my site.

But for me, go for the waite-rider pack. it will be a worthwhile path to take...

Happy learning....And I welcome you to the world of the tarot.

When using tarot cards can you ask the cards questions about your ancestors?

Theres no law against asking inanimate objects questions.

You could also ask a tree, a prune or a brick wall.

When using tarot cards can you ask the cards questions about your ancestors?
I would advise against the use of Tarot Cards.

I believe we are all psychic, but for the majority the gift or the belief has been long knocked out of them. Educated out is another way of looking at it. Many professional psychics have grown up in a psychic friendly environment. Perhaps a grand-parent or parent with the knowledge has helped bring the extra sense out in the open and encouraged its use. But there are as many practicing psychics who have not had the benefit of caring psychic guidance and who have still managed to develop and hone this natural extra sense.

About tarot cards?

out of the whole Tarot Deck, how many cards or which cards are suppose to be on reverse? i'm learning Tarot but i feel a little stuck on the fact that i do not know that much about reverse cards....can anybody tell me, how many cards are supposed to be on reversed? and which ones??/ thanks a lot

About tarot cards?
Hello eddie

How many card that are turned are down to individual, some prefer a few some a quarter or even half the deck. You do not choose which card you reverse.

A good book to try is Tarot for dummies.

Reply:Reverse just means that the card is up side down when laid out. When reading Tarot you can choose to read it as reversed or to ignore the reversal and read as normal. Tarot is only a tool for developing your own intuition. The reading comes from your inner connection to the sacred. Placing rigid inflexible meanings on the cards or their placement turns it into a meaningless game. All symbols can be interpreted in many different ways, the reading comes through your interpretation.
Reply:Tarot Cards are nothing to mess around with. By your question above I don't think you realize what you are doing, and how harmful they can be...Stop playing with them now!
Reply:Oh hun, plz just throw them away !!!! oh wait , dont throw them away ...BURN them !!! It is more real than you know and not to be taken lightly . Tarot cards can be a link to all things evil ! please take this advise
Reply:There are no specific cards, or number of cards that are read as reversed. As Tamara said, reverse meanings are for those cards which when drawn from the deck appear upside down. Some decks don't even have reversals. I am fairly new to Tarot so I don't read reversals at all - I try to shuffle so they are all upright and if not I just turn it around.

Reply:The Tarot is not something to putz around with!
Reply:Tarot cards are a high form of witchcraft, and should not be played around with. They are not a game, and they are not a toy. I used to use them, and I will not give you information that will help destroy you emotionally. Here's what to do with them: throw them away. Give me all the "thumbs down" you want, I ain't budging.
Reply:I just start with the deck all upright and "spirit" changes them if a reverse position is needed in the deck. I also have a very visual deck that taught me to listen to intuitive nature , by just "seeing" the card , Egyptian Cartouche is a very good start out deck . Listen to your inner guide that is what using a Tarot t is teaching .
Reply:My sister at one time started experimenting with tarot cards. The cards came up that all kinds of horrible things were going to happen to her, and then horrible things started happening to her. When she quit messing with the cards, the horrible things stopped.

There is power in those cards, but you do not want that kind of power.

OK, let's take an honest look at what is going through your head: If you are interested in tarot cards, then you must believe that there is a spirit world. If you didn't believe that you wouldn't have any interest in them. They are not just for luck. They operate spirits. What operates luck anyway?

The spirits that are operated by these cards are satanic spirits. What I would like to know is that if you are going to operate in the spiritual, why would you want to choose the side that works against you, and in the end looses?
Reply:I don't read any "reversed." It's complex enough without doubling up the confusion. Besides, my cards are too tempermental for too much variety.

Im not afraid to buy them, Im just not sure what I would do with them.
Reply:I have done both gaming and divination with playing cards, Tarot cards, and even Loteria cards and have built up a substantial and diverse card collection and nothing bad has ever happened because of it. Tarot cards are really nothing more than a variant deck of playing cards. Tarot cards were intended to be used for a trick taking card game similar to Bridge or Spades, a game still played today mostly in Europe although there appears to be a growing interest in the US and other countries in these Tarot card games. The use of Tarot for fortune telling or the occult did not begin until centuries after the Tarot deck's creation. Not only may one play card games with a Tarot, one may also do fortune telling and divination with standard playing cards. Prior to the mid 1960's, at least in the US, fortune telling with the standard playing card deck was actually more common than Tarot card reading.
Reply:I wasn't scared, and I've had decks for 15 years. I'm happier than I used to be, so owning them doesn't do anything terrible to you. I love them, they provide insights I don't see by myself. And they're purdy.

There's nothing to be afraid of, my dear. There's nothing evil about them--honest. People who feel that way are often afraid of the unknown.

They are just pieces of card with different pictures on them.

If it is only your faith that says that you can't, when other faiths say that you can or it is irrelevant if you do or do not, then maybe it is your faith that should be questioned %26amp; not the tarot?

Tarot are 78 peices of laminated card, they work via the subconscious mind %26amp; can open you to spirit, for some that means a closer relationship to God %26amp; others a closer relationship with then self.

It may be time to decide if you want a religious pathway or a spiritual one.

Reply:Tarot cards originally were used to play a game similar to Bridge. They date to the medieval era in Italy. The trump cards (the extra 22 picture cards in the deck) had spiritual, philosophical, cultural meaning to the people of that time. In the 18th century or so, a French occultist, upon seeing Tarot cards for the first time, decided to make up a story about them being of Egyptian origin and having profound esoteric meaning. Because regular playing cards--and various types of picture cards and other objects-- were used for fortune telling all over Europe and the world since antiquity, Tarot cards began to be used that way as well. (so if Tarot cards are "evil" so is the regular playing deck and so are the tea leaves in the bottom on the pot, etc.

When Christians make predictions, they call it prophesying and claim it is all well and good because it is the Holy Spirit. When other people make predictions or use props to help them play with intuitive and altered-state conscoiusness, Christians call it "evil." That is an example of cultural bias. Christians who research the early cultural history of the development of Judeo-Christian religion will be shocked and amazed over how much "magical" practices were part of it.
Reply:If you "believe" that these tarot cards are evil, don't use them.

If you don't "believe" that they are, I see no harm in using them.

Tarot cards are taboo to many people, so are weegee boards, etc.... Many "believe" they are a form of witchcraft, black magic, etc.

It comes down to what you believe. In reality, they are just a bunch or cards with pictures on them, but they can symbolize something else to others.

A lot of things got labeled as "evil" when Christianity was created... they were mostly things from competing religions and faiths. For example, Poseidon was an important god before Christianity. A symbol he is associated with is a trident or a three-pronged fish spear. When Christianity took over, Poseidon's trident was turned into satan's pitchfork. ..which made anyone who previously believed in Poseidon to also be evil and worshipers of satan. This happened with many things...snakes/serpents are another example.
Reply:Why wouldn't you be "allowed" to use them? Tarot cards only hold power as long as you believe in them and what they're telling you. If, as a Christian, you only believe in the word of God, then you wouldn't believe in tarot cards and wouldn't need to use them. They're only cards, after all, and the way they fall all has to do with probability.
Reply:Just because there are angels on the cards doesn't make it OK. God forbade these kinds of things a long time ago.

It says this in Deuteronomy 18:9-14...

“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there. 10 For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering.[a] And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, 11 or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord. It is because the other nations have done these detestable things that the Lord your God will drive them out ahead of you. 13 But you must be blameless before the Lord your God. 14 The nations you are about to displace consult sorcerers and fortune-tellers, but the Lord your God forbids you to do such things.”
Reply:i think there are tarrot users on the side waitin to put their thumbs down incase you say contrary(lol)... wtf is your question for? am i your father? can i stop you from doing it, like am some censor board asking if you're allowed and btw what do you want to use it for? where i am, we play card games ( whot, jokers) we gamble with them, so are you allowed? nah, go ask daddy and make sure you read the manual, who cares if tarrot is evil, at least you'll see your own future in it and not mine...but on a serious note, this things can help you understand certain occult principles, most books i have read have explained the whole pictures and symbolism although i do not play the cards... have fun if you do,,but if daddy or mummy dont like it , then dont play it, be an obedient kid.

If you wanna know anything pray to God as you know you should. My question for you is what are you afraid of that you would go to worthless cards instead of talking to God Himself about whatever it is?
Reply:Tarot cards are not evil. People involved in ceremonial magick or manipulations of forces for GOOD in the universe use the tarot to actually request whether a situation will benefit them or not if they use magick to manipulate it, therefore freeing up the concept of "free will."

Ex: "What would happened if I used magick to ______"

Don't believe the things your church feeds you about Pagans, Wiccans, or anyone who follows a "magickal religion" we don't believe/worship Satan. Just think of us as Jewish people who aren't Jewish, if that makes since.

Experiment with Tarot cards, do research but don't let people's perception of a religion stop you from learning.
Reply:Cards are not evil, people are.

One of the first decks ever created was made with christian imagery, even many decks after that follow these universal symbols.

Should you use them? that is up to you.

Some christians will tell you "No, it is a sin" - but there are quite a few christians that do read tarot and feel good about it, and are good at it.
Reply:Christianity is based on fear, not what Jesus intended. Embracing love and light within your soul no matter what religion you follow (or don't follow at all), you know that nothing and no one can hurt you..Not even your concept of "evil", not even your "devil."

Are you allowed? If you need a parental figure or judge, perhaps you aren't mature enough to harness a metaphysical tool's true potential.
Reply:The word Divination shows it comes from the DIVINE, God. Joseph used a cup to Divine, Genesis 44. And the Disciples threw lots, after calling on God, to pick another 12th Disciple in the First Chapter of Acts.

Only God makes perfect prophesies. When we deal with humans or lesser spirits, there is always room for doubt.

Readings are basically done for that moment in time. Getting

a warning of how things will turn out if we stay on the path we are on. So if one takes action to avoid an outcome. It can change the outcome.
Reply:If you believe they are evil you should not use them.

In my beliefs, they are not evil (none of them)... they are just tools that help you focus and bring out your intuitiveness. There is nothing scary about them.

It's all in how you look at things.

Reply:Yes.

There's nothing evil about them - but they're nonsense, just like.. um... the competing nonsense that declares them evil.
Reply:No! Tarot cards are a form of communication with demons! As a Christian, you need to avoid them or you might be possessed!

I believe in tarot cards and premonition and things like that.. can someone help me out with these things?
most often a book comes with the cards... if not you can buy a beginners guide. Google or use Amazon... you'll be able to find the book you need. I have no idea about reading them for yourself or hubby.
Reply:I have been reading for a few years now, for myself. I've done a few readings for other people. Basically, I keep the person in question in my mind and meditate on a particular question about that person as I am shuffling the cards. I still do not have the meanings memorized, so I go to my book for answers. I have Janina Renee's "Tarot for a New Generation".

I was raised Roman Catholic, and fell out of organized religion. Tarot is not widely accepted (as you see by a few "answers" on the board), but that hasn't stopped me. It's been a tremendous help to me with decisions and general planning for the future. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. And btw, motex and zorbiziv gave you the best answers to date!

Reply:If you are using Tarot cards as an oracle, you may be more inclined to read card meanings and spreads.

Reply:you can read for yourself tho its hard to be objective, so is reading for someone close to you.
Reply:I agree with Cindy,,what you are doing is an abomination to God this is nothing more than witchcraft.
Reply:tarot cards, as a lot of other 'reading' methods are all about intuition and connecting yourself with the person the reading is for.

Tarot decks have a card for every kind of ppl or situation, and every card has a teaching. If you study the intended meaning of a card, and also take into consideration how you feel about it, what it makes you think of, what does it remainds you of; then you are doing it right. You have to be able to see a lot of background in one card.

Every card is packed with a lot of symbolism also with the intention that in any particular rading one of the symbols or a group of them is going to call your attention, or seem more 'obvious' than others. This is for a reason, and you have to try to go along with it.

Like everything, it is most likely to require a lot of practice to master. Maybe you will be a natural born reader, and wont have to practice a lot, maybe not. But intuition is something we all have, and you can develop it.

While doing a reading, throught your intuition and with the guidance of the cards, some thoughts and ideas will come to your mind, all related to the matter in question. Say whatever comes to your mind outloud, even if you are reading for yourself, it makes it easier to come out.

Its perfectly valid to read for yourself, but everybody is different. Maybe it will be harder or easier to read for yourself than others. In my particular case, its easier with others. but thats just me.

It doesnt matter if the person is right next to you or far away. If you focus on the person and his question, it will work.

As anything else, if you have a doubt, try something, experiment. Try to think of your cards as friends that try to guide you if you ask them too, they will be always willing.

Its also important that you somehow make a ritual out of a reading, because that tells your inner child (the part of you that has access to the more subtle world) that this is serious and you really want guidance and help. For this reason every time you do a reading it has to be to help and guide, you or somebody else. The inner child wont just hand in the gift if he feels like it is just to seek some kind of 'power' or 'control over destiny', or if you are not taking it seriously.

I wish the best for you on this path. Its very exciting and very rewarding. And please, dont let yourself be discouraged by what other ppl think. good luck!
Reply:Believe in yourself.. Stop deceiving yourself.. there is nohting in this tarot, there is everything in this cards are by chance.. there is nothing to do with it with your life..

These are all human made tricks..

Work hard and prove to God that the life gifted by HIM is not gone wasted.. live every moment of you life, and never do anything that you have to regret for it later.

Don't bother about others, bother about yourself, make yourself more strong.

love life, live it more..

Weird experience with Tarot cards?

I'm a beginner, i worked with tarot cards, and it works,

but the weird part is that the cards are giving me the answers that i "want" to get!

they don't tell me the truth. they simply tell whatever that i want to hear. why is that?

anyone had the same experience?

Weird experience with Tarot cards?
When you say "it works" and you also say the cards don't tell you the truth, you're contradicting yourself.

Right now, the tarot is showing you that your desire to have what you want is greater than your desire to know the truth. Get to know yourself, develop yourself spiritually, and you will find the tarot becomes more reliable in what it shows you.
Reply:Oh yeah. This is very common. Trick to getting the cards to tell you what you need to know, is to first prepare yourself. Are you really ready to know the truth? Are you in a mind-space / heart-space where you can accept whatever the cards tell you?

Spend time in nature, praying/meditating/communicating with your Higher Power. Then when you attempt the reading again, first say OUT LOUD what your intensions are. (Like a prayer.) Then shuffle and ask your question.

Blessed Be!
Reply:Well, I have worked with Tarot Cards many years. This is a reason why I do not give tarot card reading to myself very often. But yes, I have experienced this. If you want it to be more accurate, ask someone who knows what they are doing to give you one!

Reply:That's because the one interpreting the cards (you) wants to see that answer..lol...keep working at it and the cards will start to contradict you! lol...then things get interesting...

Can someone please interpret these tarot cards for me?

okay. i asked the tarot cards (i used a tarot cards program on the computer) about my partner's sexual orientation (male). i am female. im not sure about his sexual preference. i think he might be bi, i have found stuff on the computer before and he has told me once before how he might be bicurious.

i confronted him before about the messages (to transexuals) and he says its just a "phase" and that hes over it. i still do not believe him because he has a "best friend" who seems a little gay to me, and i think they might have done something in the past.

now, i asked the tarot cards about my partner's sexual preference. the type of spread i used was the Line Spread.

the cards i got were

position 1 (distant past)knight of pentacles

position 2(recent past) page of pentacles

position 3 (present) the sun

position 4 (near future)queen of pentacles

position 5 (distant future)five of cups

the tarot deck used for this reading was rider waite.please help thanks!!

Can someone please interpret these tarot cards for me?
That's a lot of court cards. At any rate, it would be much better to do a reading asking about the future of your relationship instead of "is my boyfriend gay or bi or not?" Yes/No or closed-ended questions don't give that good of answers, in general, in my experience. And you're way too close to the issue, unfortunately. If you could get a friend to do a reading for you that would probably yield much better results.

Also, just because your boyfriend might be bi-curious doesn't mean he's going to cheat on you or your relationship will necessarily fall apart or anything. I know several people who have never acted on their bi-curious thoughts and who have been happily married (to the opposite sex) for years.

Seeing as how you added "I believe in God" at the bottom, I wonder if you're completely prejudiced against gay or bi people and would reject your boyfriend? But there are tons of people who believe in God who don't care if someone is gay or not, so I'm really not sure why you added that comment at all.

At any rate, Good Luck!
Reply:Hmmm...I see Doughnutz.
Reply:The cards are communicating information regarding money/finances, with the exception of the five of cups. That card relates to an attitude or state of mind regarding a situation. It implies there is a certain amount of brooding, and a choice needs to be made.
Reply:You should have gotten the book to go with the cards that describes the meaning of the cards. And WHY did you do something so elaborate for a simple yes/no question instead of just using a pendulum?
Reply:Your partner was influenced either consciously or unconsciously by homosexual tendencies in his past. Right now, he is not sure. Soon he will be yours, then in the distant future, he may want to take advantage of you or you will get the rewards of your patience. Pentacles (materiality, sex) transform into Cups (spirituality, nurturing). I would say the outlook is positive, but this man has a very "full" personality and sex drive. Nothing that you can't handle -though handle with care. All the best.

Could read these Tarot cards for my partner ? Thank you for your time?
I read from the Thoth deck so the images may vary slightly.

You are represented by the Works card, it is in reference to alchemical work and a time of transition. You are being crossed by the prince of cups he is the Air of Emotion. He is a very focused young man and while he is doing many things at once he is not doing all of them well. He is very close to the water and has not even noticed. The foundation is Adjustment (Justice in your deck) this the Zodical Trump of Libra. It is about balancing Venus earthly and airy natures. Above you is Happiness, it is emotion in abundence. It is Jupiters expansion in Pisces watery nature and they are very happy together. Behind you is the Death card. This is a letting go of old ideas or bad habits. This is Scorpios watery nature and an indicator of change. Since you are being represented by the Work card those two are related. In front of you in the Knight of Wands. This is a card of new beginnings and he is the Fire of Fire. In his hand is the Ace of Wands. He is the creative spark generator. He is focused movement.

The hidden influences are Indolence (8 of Cups). This is also related to the Death card and speaks of mispent or wasted emotional efforts. This is in Saturns restrictive nature and Pisces sense of expansion is just crushed here. Your hidden influence is the Queen of Pents. She is the emotional side of material security. She has a goat representing Capricorn and is surveying the landscape for options. She is representing your drive to make a better material existence for yourself in an emotionally responsible way. Hopes and fears is Sorrow. You are worried that your choices will have left you in a restricted place too far inside your own head. You are concerned about being emotionally lonely due to your thoughts as opposed to actions. The final outcome is the 6 of Disks ( Success). This is a balanced card of material sucess. Whatever your choices are they will end in very materially successful sort of way.

Good luck and enjoy!

The outcome of his travels is fortuitous (looking good) and he should have more faith in his own abilities............ dramas with a young man are behind him and he should absolve himself of the guilt he feels relating to this situation (forget about it) as he's got the trump card hun ♥ which i suspect is you ♥ spontaneity and live for the moment ........... maybe a major celebration such as the birth of a little boy ♥

Where can I find a good set of printable tarot cards?

*and they have to be for free*

There was this one site I found where a girl said she couldn't find any good printable ones so she made her own. Don't give me the link to that site, I've already checked... (btw, it's the first site that comes up when you google 'printable tarot')

thanks ♪

Where can I find a good set of printable tarot cards?
Yes, best buy a deck. Try eBay.

The many different tarot decks available will all portray symbolic imagery which must then pass through your psychic senses and, given the context of the questions asked, bring forth a tarot card meaning that significantly answers your question.

I am a professional psychic and always have at least 4 different decks on the go at any one time. When a deck get’s a bit too well worn I buy a new deck (often from eBay). I prefer to work with as new a deck of cards as possible so they shuffle and deal smoothly and quickly. I usually sell my old decks on eBay too. Here’s a live RSS feed for Tarot Decks on eBay at the moment. http://feeds.feedburner.com//TarotDeck

Here’s the how-to of reading tarot cards with your psychic perception in six simple steps. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/reading-ta...
Reply:printable tarot cards are probably hard to come by, its like printing out tattoos the sites usually mark the images with something that detracts from the image like the company's name shaded lightly through the picture.... youd probably be better off just ordering them there are many sites such as tarot.com that offer decks at reasonable prices, plus if you did print out the cards you wouldnt have a book to help you learn to interpret the cards... so yeah probably best to buy a set. or better yet have someone buy them for you it is said its best to have them given as a gift ;)
Reply:I have to agree with pocket full o posies. If you are serious about divination, you should purchase tarot cards and attune them to you. I have never even heard of a diviner attuning a lot of copied pages (though it might be possible, there is a lot about the universe we don't know). Get one as a gift, they are much better. I have a set of Celtic cards that were a gift to me years ago that I have VERY accurate readings with. If you would like a set as a gift, get ahold of me. I might be able to help. Anything to keep an artform like that alive.

Do i need a permit to read tarot cards on the street for money?

Hello Brett

I don't think that you would. Just check with whoever own the land etc.

Some councils require a traders license.

Pam

Do i need a permit to read tarot cards on the street for money?
You can get a permit for reading tarrot cards?!

Well, I doubt you do, the people who play guitar and sing don't need a permit.
Reply:u a psychic boy??
Reply:do whatever you want
Reply:find a better job, McDonalds is always fun!
Reply:The Tarot card reading doesn't need a permit, but conducting business on a city street does. It's called a peddler's license (informally, I'm sure there's a more technical name for it). Go to City Hall and ask about peddler's licenses, it's less hassle than getting cited. Street musicians are different because they just seek donations, they aren't charging for their services.

Question about Tarot Cards?

When using Tarot Cards is there a specific way to shuffle them? I know this may be a dumb question, but I'm still a beginner. And I truely believe in these cards because I did the weekly reading today and everything was on the dot just about. Please if you have any helpful suggestions or ideas(Besides burning them! If you leave a post saying something about destroying my cards I will report you! Some people are just not open minded...I'm sorry, but it bugs me when people say to burn or destroy Tarot Cards, but I know it's their opinion) please tell me....thanks!

Question about Tarot Cards?
I'd say the way Tarot Cards work is by tapping into the resources of your unconscious mind.

Therefore, as with any discipline which relies on the unconscious, like poetry or musical composition, the trick is to divert your conscious mind onto some other channel so that it doesn't get in the way too much.

This, however, presents the obvious problem of creating the *focus* you want, which is where ritual comes in.

I would say the best way would be to create a formalised method of doing it which you repeat every time and are comfortable with. First, the element of focus. Sit down, compose yourself, and decide firmly and confidently

1) what the subject of the reading is to be, and

2) what kind of spread you will be using.

Then comes the element of distracting the conscious mind: begin shuffling the cards, gradually letting your conscious mind slip away from the subject of the reading and on to something neutral and nonspecific (e.g. background instrumental music). Then as soon as you get an inner tug-at-the-sleeve, just whenever it feels right, stop shuffling and deal out your spread.

The important thing in all of this is that you feel comfortable and confident, and are not allowing your hopes, fears, emotions or belief systems to colour the result.
Reply:Begin with..Texas Hold'em
Reply:Don't burn them...cut them into pieces
Reply:Apparently you are not aware that the tarot was once a vital story telling aide, and now it has been turned into some stupid board game.

You would be amazed at the truth, so why not do a little research?
Reply:I believe I've read before that there are some specific ways, but myself no specific way works just fine. I don't do then often because the impressions drain me of energy to quickly.
Reply:I think you shuffle them till you feel comfortable to stop. Tarot cards can not be right on though because they are so vague and most of the things you pull up are relevant to everyone's life in one way or another.
Reply:Tarot cards are addictive and become false idols, its best to avoid them because they open you up to demonic influences. You really need to understand how deceptive they can be.Do some research about them and you will soon see the same.I am a very open minded person and used to be into all forms of astrology, tarot cards, runes etc.But I found out the truth the hard way,it may not be easy for you to believe that, which is why I am saying don't take my word for it,research it yourself.
Reply:BURN THEM THROW THEM AWAY. YOU DON'T KNOW

WHAT YOU ARE DEALING WITH. YOU CAN GET MAD ALL

YOU WANT. YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND.
Reply:start buying books
Reply:Hi, my mom and my aunt are really into tarot cards and I have them do a reading for me every once in a while. They know all the cards by heart and they are really good at it. When they do it, they shuffle the cards until you "feel" that you should stop or if a card falls outta place it means you should stop. Then cut the deck once in half then put it back together and do your spread...hope that helps.
Reply:Study the Qabalah and you will understand the Book of Taro. Otherwise, you are wasting your time. To understand one symbolic reference, you need its companion system.
Reply:There is no special way to shuffle them. Whatever way works best and feels right for you is fine. Personally, I tend to shuffle mine nine times before each reading, for symbolic reasons.

There's only one deck worth purchasing, and that would be entitled the Thoth deck. Look at Barnes %26amp; Noble or a good occult store.
Reply:Ebay would probably be your best bet for a good selection. If you don't see exactly what you're looking for, hit their Ebay stores, sometimes they have additional stuff that they didn't put up for auction.

Reply:I would suggest to not go shopping for them with too closed of a mind... if one particular deck jumps out at you (literally or figuratively) then get that.

trust your instincts. here I've seen quite a few at new agey/headshops and new age bookstores.

I bought some tarot cards at a yard sale....?
Check out this site: http://www.learntarot.com/
Reply:Uh...I heard that one should never buy tarot cards for ones self. That it's kinda bad luck and taboo

but here's what you asked for: http://www.learntarot.com/top.htm
Reply:I've been reading Tarot for years and the best book is Tarot for Yourself (check Amazon or Ebay). Don't let anyone tell you not to buy your own cards. You should always pick your own or as I believe, they pick you. What deck did you get? What does it look like? I'll tell you whatever I can....
Reply:You are not suppose to use someone elses tarot cards
Reply:Did ya ask what people's opinions of Tarot cards were? NO!!But they gotta tell you don;t they?

I learn best from books , you can take them with you anywhere. So I would go to a big bookstore and look there.

have fun. if it is not fun, throw em out, big deal, right?
Reply:I agree the LearnTarot.com site is a good place to start. You can also find the deck you picked out as well, so you know what you have. You can get a foundation of what the cards mean. If you find that you have a natural knack for it. I would sugguest you try to read card by a story telling method. Which is basically laying the cards in a side by side method and using your ability to feel and see pictures of the cards. I use this method quite a lot. I read for a while to use the learn each card meaning and it jsut didnt flow well. I found I was much better at getting the story from the cards themselves. Also I would sugguest a yahoo group such as psychic_abilitites, that or any of the froum groups that may practice and talk about tarot cards, and reading. There are lots of helpful people that are willing to help a person thats learning out.

Hope that helps
Reply:The best thing to do is throw them away. At best, they are useless.

Tarot cards predicted?

my mother recently used the tarot cards on me and they predicted that if i lost my virginity in 2009 id have a baby im really worried how are accurate are tarot cards (please SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)

Tarot cards predicted?
Hello

Maybe your mum is right, or maybe she is trying to warn you about pregnancy %26amp; this is the only way she can start the conversation?

Talk to your mum.

Pam
Reply:I'd be interested in how she got a if then type answer. The cards are as accurate as the reader, situation, %26amp; people involved, are honest, connected, and skilled; and they are never 100%.

If you have sex you can get pregnant. Tarot cards, spells, prayers, and anything else, can't change the facts, sex is how someone gets pregnant. If you don't want to get pregnant, be responsible for YOURSELF.

I am a Tarot reader and believe in the power of the cards, however I would never give up control or responsibility for myself to something outside myself. If I did a reading that said I wouldn't get pregnant, I would still do everything in my control to make that a true statement, if I didn't, I have not only changed my future by not doing something I would have without the reading, I've given up control and responsibility of my life. Never a good idea.
Reply:They don't hit the nail on the head hun, nothing to worry about.
Reply:oh for goodness sake ...

please dont listen to her

I am sorry , I know she is your mother

but this is nonsense

you will loose your virginity when YOU are ready to

you wont get pregnant if you use contraception

simple as that

I read cards ... but I know silliness when I see it
Reply:lol!
Reply:I have a sneaking suspicion Mom's just trying to keep you from doing just that anytime soon.

Tarot cards don't predict events that far in the future. Tarot is used for guidance, and can be very accurate about past situations and current situations and how to deal with them, and while they may indicate some *near* future happenings, the actuality of such happenings being definite would be contingent on you staying on the exact same path you are on right now. Sorry, but a whole year? You will make millions of different decisions and choices in that time frame that will alter your life's path, even if ever so slightly.

I would say that if this "prediction" came true, it's because you truly believed it would happen and then therefore created the reality of it. Self-fulfilled prophecy.
Reply:They are accurate as the person reading them. The person should have an ability without the cards. Your mother may be testing you to see if you are sexually active. It doesnt matter how good they are its how careful are you?
Reply:Your mom is very clever...

and you are very gullible.
Reply:The future is not set in stone! Just be sure to *ahem* keep your legs closed in 2009 and you won't have to worry. I think your mom might have been trying to scare you or she has some concerns about her daughter dating. You'll be fine :)
Reply:How old are you? Maybe she was trying to scare you into abstinence.

Tarot cards are very accurate, IF you stay on a certain path. As someone said they are able to change-and they are only as good as the reader.

However, when we read people we already know a lot about if not everything about-we run into interpreting teh cards with ego and bias-which is purely accidental and not intentional.

This could happen in your case. If this came from an accurate psychic who is not knowledgeable on your life and you are thinking about being sexually active, I would say it's possible to take it seriously. Also figure into affect whether your mother is experienced, psychic, and her history of accuracies or failures on prophecies.

if she's new to it, or isn't intuitive...i'd say no, the cards probably are not accurate -especially with the biased added on..

However, if you are sexually active you already have a HUGE chance of becoming pregant-That's common sense. No protection is 100% (sometimes the pill even fails to work-happened to my friend) and you have to realize that you're at risk each and every time. If you don't want a child, do not have intercourse-b.c that's what it's prime function is for. If you do, ge on the pill or get protected.

All in all, sounds like a scare tactic.
Reply:Sounds like your mom knows you'll be dating soon and wanted to scare you into keeping your legs crossed.

I wouldn't take it too seriously. Just use protection or refrain from sex until you can mentally and financially support a child. Then you'll have no problems.
Reply:Tarot cards fail to predict that their users are paving their way all the way to hell
