What is an easy way to remember your tarot cards? Thank you?

How to read tarots cards in groups?

What is an easy way to remember your tarot cards? Thank you?
The cards tell a story. Don't be so focused on the written descriptions look at the cards and imagine what that card is saying. Refer back to your book to add or modify your meaning if you need to or if it makes you feel better, but trust yourself.

Meditation can also help to focus and center your energy when you read. It can help you to tune into your cards and reading.

Remember to clear your cards of old energy before or after use. You can use many techniques, white light energy, smudge sticks, crystals... there are a lot and it is a personal preference.
Reply:im not into that lifestyle although you need to have photographic, memorization ,memory retention

Is it true that Playing Cards started off as Tarot Cards?

Someone once told me that Playing Cards where originally created to be used as tarot cards, is there any truth to this or is it may be that people that did the tarot started using Playing Cards? I would like to clear up this myth.

Is it true that Playing Cards started off as Tarot Cards?
It's hard to say, it is like which came first, the chicken of the egg.

Contrary to what the person above said about tarot and playing cards being different, if you look at the suits, they are actually the same.

Suit of Hearts, hearts makes people think of love, that would be the suit of Cups.

Suit of Diamonds, diamonds representing riches, that is the suit of Pentacles

Suit of Spades, like a dagger or such, speaks of thinking and words, that is the suit of Swords

Suit of Clubs, a wooden thick stick, the suit of Wands is shown with 'wooden sticks' and is the suit that represents creative energy, like a magic wand.

In a world with so much persicussion for having certain beliefs, I could see how 'playing cards' may have been a disguise for tarot.

The first known set of real playing cards came from the far east and where round and did not have a format like todays cards, tarot or play.
Reply:Hello

From what I remember about Tarot history - no.

Early playing cards were far more decorative than they are now, which may be where this stems from. The opposite is probably true that Tarot stemmed from playing cards.

Pam
Reply:i do not think it is true, as tarot cards are all different and have a signifigant meaning to each of them. playing cards do not.

Where can i buy tarot cards in the san francisco bay area?
Have you done a search? I am sure there are plenty. Plus the store---Spencer's--has those. But I don't like that kind of thing.
Reply:San Jose Metaphysical bookstore is nice, big selection, nice vibe. Also East Meets West Bookstore in Palo Alto
Reply:have you tried Borders book store? They usually have really nice sets at pretty fair prices.
Reply:well of course online but try searching at witchvox.com for local shops in your area a majority of pagan or metaphysical shops should carry tarot cards be choosy when picking out your deck you might not like the artwork of the cards and some cards change the names so it can be very difficult also if the shops cant help you out try tarotuniverse.com they have several different types of deck all at good prices i saw a fairy deck their for only 15 dollars
Reply:Borders has a nice collection and has a catalog as well. I've bought a number of sets there.
Reply:Try a search for 'buy tarot in san francisco' in this Psychic Search Engine
Reply:I bought mine in a book store. I am in the south so I know you could find them in California.
Reply:In the Haight, Planetweavers sells tarot cards. 1573 Haight St
Reply:Try a chain book store, like barns and noble or borders, if they don't carry any, try a flea market or search the web for occult supply stores, if worst comes to worst, try an on-line occult store, you can defiantly find some there. good luck, and i hope you find a set that matches you perfectly!
Reply:You can go to Ancient Ways in Oakland, California just a few miles away from San Fran.
Reply:Dude, you can get those at a book store.
Reply:Great site Large selection, and they come to your door!!

Enjoy!

What is the cloth called you read tarot cards on?

I'm selling an old (1986) set of tarot cards on ebay and it has a black cloth with 10 places for cards to go. What is the name of this cloth? Anything else I should use to describe it?

What is the cloth called you read tarot cards on?
The cloth should be silk which you wrap your cards in along with deer skin to keep them protected.
Reply:A diklo.

Diklo = a Gypsy man's neckerchief, often made of brightly-colored silk, sometimes worn as a bandana
Reply:Table cloth.

Really, there is no "special" cloth for tarot cards. It is probably something someone made as a teaching tool, and nothing more.

Sorry. You got nothing more than a fancy table cloth.
Reply:It is just a cloth. I am not a real hard core tarot reader, but everything I have read about them is you can call it a tarot cloth but they do not have a specific name. Some traditions may, but just tarot itself there is no particular name for it
Reply:You can call it a spread cloth.

I am a professional psychic and always have at least 4 different decks on the go at any one time. When a deck get’s a bit too well worn I buy a new deck (often from eBay). I prefer to work with as new a deck of cards as possible so they shuffle and deal smoothly and quickly. I usually sell my old decks on eBay too. Here’s a live RSS feed for Tarot Decks on eBay at the moment. http://feeds.feedburner.com//TarotDeck
Reply:It is usually just called a tarot cloth. You should describe the style it is in (e.g. Rider-Waite). There are different traditions/styles of pictures and it would be useful to know what it is modelled after. Also, make sure that they are tarot cards and not oracle or gypsy cards. :) It won't take much research to find out the style...just check out a site that sells cards and look at some designs.

Quick and easy:

Get 78 playing cards that are all the same size, and paste a bank piece of card stock or paper on the front, and begin.
Reply:what a cool idea. well you may just want to bring them up individually say like the magician card, an draw it out adding your own touch. but dont change it very much unless you know what your doing because if you dont know how to read tarot cards you might mess it up, cause i know the cards are balenced a certain way design wise composition an everything to mean certain things. but anyway just research all the cards an bring them up individually an look at them an draw them, just take your time
Reply:I agree with the previous person who answered. You need to do some research on them. I know on sites like Deviantart.com and Elfwood.com, many artists have made their own versions of these magical cards. Each one has special meaning within. I'd suggest researching the cards first, or even going out and buying your own deck with the instruction manual. It can be of immense help if you want to get a good size for them, and have the guide with you as you work on them.

Where can you find a cheaper set of tarot cards, that still have positive energy?

I do not have a lot of money, but I would really like a set of effiecient tarot cards. If anyone knows a cheaper place in Mahoning County or a website could you please let me know?

Where can you find a cheaper set of tarot cards, that still have positive energy?
Hello Nerissa

E bay are ok, as are Amazon.

You may even be able to get a used deck from e bay, people buy them, take them out of the packet %26amp; never look at them again.

Reply:I have no idea why the price of a set of tarot cards would influence its effectiveness.

Especially since the effectiveness comes not from the cards but the knowledge of the person using it.

Everything is not about money. Especially not the mystical, sacred or deep.
Reply:A deck's energy is what you put into it.

Amazon is a great place to get decks

They have a deck trade board, you don't have to have a deck to trade, some you can buy, or trade something else.

Have a look for Rider Waites, they are tradional %26amp; most other decks are based around them.

Reply:You can use this four minute video as a brief meditation on the tarot that, repeatedly viewed, will help you learn how to read tarot cards psychically. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/tarotvisio...

Here is a free download demo for a great Tarot program. To keep the size of the demo manageable it contains the Rider/Waite deck, the actual program will have 10 complete decks. This Demo version of Tarot is a full working copy for 30 days. So you get 30 days to study meanings and spreads! http://www.free-tarot-download-demo.wots...

If you are using Tarot cards as an oracle, you may be more inclined to read card meanings and spreads. But if using Tarot Cards as a tool for Psychic Ability you would be less likely to hold to any hard and fast guide lines. I’m a profession psychic and use Tarot Cards in a random way. In 25 years of professional readings I’ve never used any ‘meanings, spreads or reversals’ of tarot cards from any books.

So if you want to develop ‘Psychic Ability’ throw the books and guidelines away and let the images inspire you. But you may need to try the Rider Waite or another imaged deck.

Does any one know how to make tarot cards out of a deck of cards?

My friend told me she read a book once that told her how to make tarot cards out of a deck of cards, she was wondering if anyone knew a site to tell her how to do so? Or if anyone out there has done it for themselves. I have searched for her, and found nothing.

Does any one know how to make tarot cards out of a deck of cards?
The orignal reading cards were a 52 deck and some people read with the jokers, if reading and the joker is up side down it means he is laughing at you and what you are reading is more fears.

Then the tarot cards came about after that. THe 52 deck is called Gypsy reading. Another thing to remember when reading is that the 52 card deck is only is interested in the future or what is about to occur, the tarot deals with the past and the future and has lots of inuendo.

Grandmothers read these cards and passed it down to their children. The 10 of spades is bad luck or the prison card, 10 of hearts is hopes dream and ambitions. The quean of clubs is a woman with white skin, brown and blue or brown eyes (thats the colouring of the person) a quean pf spades is usually a dark skinned, dark eyed and dark haired woman) There are different variations for each card. The cards are very cryptic and takes years to work out the combinations. Its a very old art of divining.

Reply:Try these sites. I have a friend who knew what each card meant with a regular deck. But I don't recommend playing around with it. Won't tell you not to do it, though. I just know friends of mine who "messed around" with occult activities and basically ended up mentally ill. Or maybe they were already ill and it just fed on it. Don't know. Just be careful, OK?
Reply:You must not have searched very hard!

Start by studying tarots that have already been created. This is a dying art that needs to be explored before you attempt to do it yourself.

If you are talking about reading a regular deck of playing cards, than this is a wholly different matter (studying, not actually reading, which in itself is pretty similar...)
Reply:it's really hard to turn a regular deck of cards into a deck of tarot cards. the minor arcana is no big deal, but the major arcana is going to be hard to do. plus, if its a deck that has been used a lot, other people's energies are infused into the cards and will mess up your readings when you do them. my suggestion is to go to a book store and go to the new age section. you need to pick a deck that you can hold in your hand and feel the energy coming from the cards. if it is a good energy, then that is the deck for you. otherwise, dont get it. decks normally run around 14-20 dollars depending on what deck it is and where you get them. i wish you luck, and please be careful when using them. metaphysics is dangerous to get involved with and should be approached with caution. never read too much into your cards. actually i suggest you deal out your cards and write down which layout you used and what cards were in which position. then a few weeks later, interperet your cards and see if what your cards said happened. if you put too much faith in your cards and interpret right away, you might do something you wouldnt do otherwise. i hope this information helps you in the near future.
Reply:Oh good lord. Tarot decks are not evil's domain.

Seriously. If you would like to know how to do the tarot decks, run a search on either yahoo or google about regular playing card tarot decks. If you can't find your answers there, try going to this site below.

What's your opinion on getting a first deck of tarot cards? Bad to buy yourself or myth?

A few people have told me buying my own tarot cards isn't good while others have told me it's a myth and it's a good idea to buy your own tarot cards because than you are comfortable with the style of card.

If you have tarot cards how did you receive them and what do you believe in?

Thanks

What's your opinion on getting a first deck of tarot cards? Bad to buy yourself or myth?
I've been reading the Tarot for 28 years (I'm 47 years old). Although my first deck was given to me, I have bought many, many decks since then. There is no reason why you can't buy a deck for yourself. It's more important that you resonate with the deck--than whether it was given to you or you bought it yourself. Go ahead and buy yourself a deck. May I suggest you check out http://www.usgamesinc.com/home.php?cat=1 They currently have over one hundred of decks available. I also suggest you check out Students of the Tarot http://www.students-of-tarot.com/index2....

At that site you can select various decks and do a reading (it's free). The site is a great resource for experimenting with various decks.
Reply:Hmmm, I never heard that story, that someone should buy them for you. I don't like it because it's very, very important to me to choose the deck that I like.

I like the older decks, the more traditional ones. I hate the newer ones and especially the ones that are too cute.
Reply:dont just buy the first tarrot deck you see make sure you go to new age stores and go with the one that you connect with its fine to buy your own when you get it sleep with it in your pillowcase to share your energy with it and make sure you clense them with sage before using them. goodluck!
Reply:Well you can buy them yourself but you should buy ones that you feel are comfortable to you not just the pretty pictures. its not bad to buy them yourself. i have no cards but i believe there is a reason why things happen the way they do.
Reply:It is perfectly OK to buy your own deck. If it is your 1st and you are about to learn, by the simplest design.

The Swiss or Marsielles, Medieval decks are good. Some people like the Rider-Waite, but I prefer one with plainer pip cards.
Reply:I think it is perfectly fine to buy them yourself. I perfer it. I like to feel mine and see if I like them in general. I have several decks now and I have purchased them all.
Reply:I have bought almost al of my own decks, and never had a problem. I do not believe that you have to have someone else buy your deck.
Reply:i have never heard that it's bad to buy your own tarot cards i perfer to buy them myself because maybe you feel a certain type of energy around a certain deck or something
Reply:whoever says you're going to hell for buying terot cards is paronoid. they are not sinful just fun. they don't actually do anything.
Reply:i bought them when i was 10 just for fun they dont really work tho they r just for fun
Reply:dont even go near those things my mom has them in her house and she brought spirits in with them...

Should Tarot cards be sold in the USA for playing actual card games?

In European countries such as France, there are Tarot cards sold to play actual card games similar to Spades and Bridge. According to most historians, Tarot cards were originally intended for card games and not for divination. However in countries such as the US, Tarot cards are only sold for fortune telling purposes and most Americans only associate Tarot with divination. Do you believe this situation should change? Would you play actual card games with Tarot? Should Tarot publishers supply game rules with Tarot decks?

Should Tarot cards be sold in the USA for playing actual card games?
As a tarot reader, I would love to have instructions for the game Tarocci (sp?). I love to play cards, in any shape or form.

Any cards, anything as that goes, can be used for divination.

Situation change? well, add instructions for the game, but don't exclude the divination use of the cards.
Reply:I use tarot cards for divination and I don't think they should be used for a game. Tarot cards have a different energy than regular playing cards do and it wouldn't be a good idea. Tarot cards today are different than Tarot cards in history, they like everything else have evolved.
Reply:I agree, tarot cards are not for game play. They have a purpose and any use outside that purpose will foul them for their intended use. Other than when you are told by the reader to shuffle/cut/select the cards no one but the reader(owner) of the deck should handle them as this will allow them to absorb energies from outside sources and make it hard on the owner to get a proper reading from them.

Reply:playing are missing most of the deck. Not only do this exclude the Knight of each suit but the entire Major Arcana which represent large change or emotions. So you can't use playing cards, it would be like trying to look through a telescope with only half a lens.
