Does anyone know how to bless Tarot cards?

I hear you should bless them before you use them. I just got a new set.

Does anyone know how to bless Tarot cards?
You can bless them as you throw them in the fire.
Reply:Whether you 'should' really depends on your point of view and your own personal feelings about them. Some readers go through an elaborate dedication / blessing ceremony. Others may do something less elaborate. Some may not do anything special at all. Since it's going to be your tool, you should use your intuition to let you know what you may or may not need to do.

For me, I play with them. I spend the first couple of days with a new deck almost constantly. I don't even necessarily pay attention but just shuffle and shift the cards while I'm watching TV or playing outside with the kids. I've even brought a new deck to the movies with me.

As for the other 'rules' they too are often individual in tastes although most everyone I know agrees they don't just leave them lying around. I have no problem letting people look, and feel and ask questions though I do make sure when I put them away that they are facing the same direction and that I've touched each of the cards.

Blessings
Reply:use them and only use them when in a clear head no negitive no positive just clear!
Reply:This is a personal ritual that is entirely optional. It is not going to affect the use of your cards. Some do a simple candle ceromony and some go as far as to use blood. Its is a simple matter of preference.
Reply:For mine I simply used them repeatedly and keep them out of the reach of others. That way their essence doesn't affect them. Only downside I seem to have is that I only get answers relating to me.... but since I'm narcississistic I'm cool with that.
Reply:There are many ways to bless the cards, some I would never use since they involve blood and to me that is not too good. Anyway, first you should cleanse them to get rid of negativity, then bless them. Another way is to attune them to you (keep them near you 24/7). Some say don't let others touch them, but if you do a reading for someone, they should have brief contact with the cards. Good idea to cleanse after use to rid the cards of any neg. energy as well. There are many rituals out there for that, in books or on the net. I use candles and incense (which changes on the purpose of blessing or cleansing of the item) plus I use my own words for the rituals. That way it is not always the same and always personal! Have fun and enjoy your new set!

Blessed Be.

Reply:You should be cleansing them from the energy of others people, who may have touched them in factories, stores, etc..

You can sprinkle water on each card very lightly, though don't do that if you feel you will put too much on and damage the cards.

Placing them under the light of the Sun or the full moon-Sun is usually more convinient for people. For a few minutes to an hour.

Sleeping with them near or under your pillow, to get your energy into them.

Shuffling them forwards and backwards- getting rid of energy is backwards shuffling, adding your own energy is forwards.

Don't let people handle your cards without your permission, and don't let anyone handle them until you feel those cards are cleansed and your own.

keep them wrapped when not in use, or in a box.

PS- You can let others shuffle the cards when you are reading for them, or when they want to look at the images, but never let them read other people using your cards, even with your permission-the energy will no longer be cleansed.

As long as your intent is good, it matters not what mind frame you are-as biased answers leave with practice and time.
Reply:There are loads of ways depending on your personal preferences. There are some essential steps though, which all good methods have in common:

1. Removal of unwanted energies

2. Protection against undesired interference

3. Binding of the cards to you

4. Invitation of the powers you wish to talk to you though the cards.

5. Anchoring of intended use type to guide the interaction of the deck with the subject of the reading

1. Easiest methods are creating white light (destructive variant) and imbueing the deck with it. Cow dung will also work. Fire and water which are also good cleaners tend to be harmful to the cards. Don't use incense, it's not usefull in this case.

2. If you have a capable and wiling protector/guide ask him/her to guard them for you. Otherwise wrap them in a protective material silk/fur (if you have a good relation with the animal and it's permission) or aluminium foil. You can also extend your own aura to wrap around them, but that can have bad side effects. If you are good with symbols you can use these for protection.

3. Binding is best done via meditation which can be done by meditating with each card individually or with the deck as a whole. The most important part of the meditation being the creating of a link between the card(s) and the chakra's/energy centers which you want to use when reading them. If you don't want to read the energies of the cards, but just mentally want to work with their constellations you don't need to bind them to anything but your third eye.

4. Which powers you want to invite depends on the type of deck you are using and your personal connection with traditions. create a ritual circle, cleanse it , cleanse the cards and put them in the circle and request the powers to inhabit/empower the cards. Again this can be done card by card of with the deck as a whole. Some people ask their guide(s) to empower their cards.

5. Depending also on your choice in step four decide what type of reading you want to do. Past/present/future, development, surrounding forces, relational, magical, mystical or a combination.

I hope this helps, but it is a highly individual process and without more info about you and what you want i cannot be more specific.
