Are tarot cards dangerous , bring spirits or bad luck?

I used the tarot cards for years in my teens. I am now 30 and considering getting some more. People are telling me that they are just like ouiji boards and bring bad spirits etc. I was wondering if this is true or if they are harmless. is their a darker side to tarot?

the major arcana represent the higher aspect, the subconscious and what may be necessary on an inner level to come through a crisis and what may have generated it. they represent the life cycle from the beginning to the end and how endings always bring new beginnings.





the minor arcana are how we tend to live and the different cycles of each life aspect, abundance/money, love, thought/mental process, and actions.





there is no darker side to the tarot the purpose behind their design is to help a querant gain clarity in life issues, the law of attraction is the base of a card draw.
Reply:Tarot cards are a tool that can be used for meditation, self discovery and some even claim divination. There is nothing evil or bad about them. However if you believe they are evil or even consider them "questionable" I would suggest that you not use them. Self-fulfilling prophecies can be a bit of a bummer drag.
Reply:People have been using cards --all types of cards, including the regular playing deck--since they were invented. Tarot cards used to be used to play a game like Bridge back in the 14 th century. It wasn't until the late 19th century that they become mostly distinguished as esoteric tools for divination and all the guides about what this card or that means was made up. No spirits bad or otherwise are involved. It's a way to help you focus and open your intuition and imagination. Tell your friends they are superstition and don't know what they are talking about , go buy more Tarot cards, and have fun.





Look up the author Cynthia Giles on amazon.com. she wrote an interesting book on the history of the Tarot.

I believe the cards are like a tool, the symbols on them help us plug into the collective unconscious, or akashic records, or the higher self (whatever the theory).





I've heard this thing about evil and spirits too, but I've been reading 17 years... never had any kind of sense of evil or fear. I have known many people reading longer than that who have never had a problem.





The only people I have known to say "scary things" happened are the people who


1) believed there was something scary about the tarot already, or


2) decided to dabble and had no idea what they were really doing, or


3) were taught to fear the tarot but decided to go for a reading and some fraud put on a freak show for them.





So, I basically think anything "scary" that happened to them was probably psychological.
Reply:I've never done that; but my suggestion would be to follow Biblical principles and avoid all forms of divination or sorcery. Fortune telling definitely falls into that category.

Reply:I come from a very spiritual family and have never heard of negative sides to tarot.





But give me a few hours and I'll do a bit of research for you anyway.





Ouija boards are not to be trifled with though, best if just steer clear of those.

EDIT: Had a look in a few of our books here, found no negative sides to tarot. Looked online, found nothing more than people saying they are evil and that you should follow their god.





My verdict: Harmless, wise and intricately decorated.
Reply:Were they dangerous when you were in your teens? Did they bring bad things to you? You know the answer is no they didn't. Relax and don't let people tell you to fear something when you know there is nothing to fear.
Reply:If you do it properly, say a blessing and envelope yourself in the white light, pushing away all negativity, it should be fine.
Reply:Any thing to do with witch craft or that is used in witch craft is dangerous. Stay away. If you need to know something ask God. He is the only one with the true answers.
Reply:I have been using Tarot cards for several years. They are a wonderful tool for spiritual insight. The deck itself is an inanimate object, so it is neither good nor evil.
