What do Mormons think of occult practices such as Tarot cards?

Are they evil, or permitted given that Joseph Smith used a seer stone and read the golden tablets from the stone in the hat?

Joseph Smith used the Urim and thummin...and a seer stone. Yes David Whitmer is right it's translated by the power of God. No we don't do tarot cards, astrology or any other occultic practices . The seer stone isn't occultic.
Reply:yes mormons have their own psychics, a patriarch who goves a patriarticle blessing, the one i got, I burned, it was not a blessing. It started me on my walk out of the church of Jesus christ of latter-day saints.
Reply:As a latter-day saint, I believe that wicked spirits walk the earth as well as righteous ones. Tarot cards, wigi boards [sp?], mediums, etc can be used to communicate with spirits, but we cannot always control the spirit which is called. I personally avoid such practices, even for fun or entertainment.
