Are tarot cards evil?

One of my friends swears that tarot cards are associated with the devil (or something of a similar evilness, kind of like Ouija boards), but I've never known them to be. I always figured they were just cards. If you know how tarot cards originated and if they're safe to use or not, I'd appreciate your input.

Are tarot cards evil?
Cards are just cards. They're as harmless as horoscopes (and about as useful. This from someone who reads them very well).

Some people associate any mysticism not of their religion, with evil... they are told that so they don't go exploring any competing ideas. This is a sign of a weak religion.

Reply:Since you state that you're "not even religious" why does the fact that your friend swears they are "associated with the devil" have you worried? Report Abuse

Reply:Yes, they are evil.

Tarot cards, fortune telling, wicca, future predictors, sages, ouija, seances, consulting a witch all agains the Catholic religion.

Your friend is a 100% right, and stick with you friend's beliefs.

If you look at all the people that promote these cards, they are all pagans and into the occult. If someone really cared about you, they wouldn't want you to deal with this stuff.

((Prayer of Protection against Evil))

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, strengthened by the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints, and powerful in the holy authority of His Precious and Wondrous Name, We ask, O Lord God, that you break and dissolve any and all curses, hexes, spells, seals, satanic vows and pacts, spiritual bondings and soul ties with satanic forces, evil wishes, evil desires, hereditary seals, snares, traps, lies, obstacles, deceptions, diversions, spiritual influences, and every dysfunction and perversion. Amen.
Reply:tarot cards have nothing to do with the devil. for some people, they are simply entertainment, and for others they are useful tools to help you see things in your life from another perspective.

i have a deck of my own that has always been faithful to me. a few years ago while i was pregnant with my daughter, i'd do readings for myself often to pass the time. it kept telling me that someone was lying to me, and it kept talking about a baby. i didn't know who would lie to me, and i assumed it was talking about my baby. a couple weeks later, my daughter's father told me that he had been sleeping around on me with his ex, and she got pregnant.

tarot cards are not evil at all, they don't invoke spirits or anything like that. they are just an aid to help you see the bigger picture.
Reply:No, evil does not exist..
Reply:It depends on how they are used. They are just a tool that psychics use to deepen their clarity on a reading.
Reply:Pagan Poet is right, they are not evil, they can be used to assist readers made decisions about their life.

The majority of the cards have very positive associated meanings, the few ones that are considered 'bad' are more to do with peoples own personal struggles in life, worries, misunderstandings and insecurities about themselves and others. used correctly they are actually quite positive, but I'm afraid thats where the problem lies, most people misuse them, so in effect its the misusers that could be considered 'evil' if thats the word you want to use, but not the cards!
Reply:tarot just helps your mind make associations with things that you already know. but stay away from the crowley deck it is designed to suggest the darker side to the mind.
Reply:Tarot Cards are a tool, just like a computer is a tool or a pickax is a tool. Tools can help you achieve great things, either good or evil-- but the most important thing is how you use them. For instance if you try to manipulate someones destiny by deliberately reading their future for your own means, this might be construed as evil... of course you could be like the oracle in The Matrix and be reading their future incorrectly for their own good.
Reply:no, they are for helpful things. read the below it's a history of tarot.

it may be helpful.
Reply:Tarot cards are just an inanimate object. they can neither be good nor evil. Tarot cards when used by a reader who is true of heart, one with spirit and gives what they are given in an honest interpretation of the cards are good. When used by a reader who does not have true intentions, gives false or reverse readings for whatever ill intended gain are evil.

In short, tarot is safe and fun to use, if used as intended. Very interesting to learn, should you choose to, but only choose to for the right reasons.

Reply:They aren't evil just cards some people use and believe help them with future events.
Reply:That is not true at all.. Nothing with fortune telling is related with the devil...That is all just a myth that Christians try and shove down your throat...
Reply:They are not evil. They are mainly used for answering questions. I don't mean like the "will I win the lottery?" questions but personal ones. They help to figure out what choices (conscious or subconscious) you made to get to the point you're at and what possible paths you can take from there. They are more for a personal understanding of ones life than actual divination.
