Isnt it against catholic religion to get like tarot cards read?
Gods word says for us not to get caught up in that. It's not good.
Reply:Yes. Most Christian belief systems would hold this to be a "pagan" or satanic rite.
Reply:no
Reply:Yes, The Catholic Church and Psychics are business competitors
Reply:Yes it is, you will have to many hail Marys and our fathers.
Reply:It is against the Catholic faith to foster any competition whatsoever, and tarot card readers provide stiff competition for your money and attention, to say nothing of your obedience.

The Church will never approve tarot card readings, imo.

Reply:Yes.

Catholic Church teaches:

God can reveal the future to his prophets or to other saints. Still, a sound Christian attitude consists in putting oneself confidently into the hands of Providence for whatever concerns the future, and giving up all unhealthy curiosity about it.

All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future.

Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers.

They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.

With love in Christ.
Reply:Tarot cards, among other things, are considered a form of divination - a violation of the First Commandment.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches:

2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future.

2138 Superstition is a departure from the worship that we give to the true God. It is manifested in idolatry, as well as in various forms of divination and magic.

2117 All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one's service and have a supernatural power over others - even if this were for the sake of restoring their health - are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. These practices are even more to be condemned when accompanied by the intention of harming someone, or when they have recourse to the intervention of demons. Wearing charms is also reprehensible. Spiritism often implies divination or magical practices; the Church for her part warns the faithful against it. Recourse to so-called traditional cures does not justify either the invocation of evil powers or the exploitation of another's credulity.

Choose... The only person that should or could answer this is yourself. ANd why the tarot cards? How do you know the person reading them is in any way accurate and not bsing you?

Maybe before wondering if this is against the catholic religion you should research the tarot cards. I'd worry less about the popes view and more about if I'm about to get bilked out of good money. Just as there are good psychics there are pretty bad ones too.

Yes the catholics have a good reason against prophesy stuff, but that doesnt' mean it all bad. THe reason is more out of being very protective. However tarot cards are no more of the devil then dishsoap is. They are a tool. The person utilising the tool is the one you need to look at, not the tool.
Reply:The nuns who never see the world, hold seances. Even though it is an abomination to God.
Reply:Absolutely. You must always get unlike tarot cards read. Otherwise, god will get you.
Reply:If you want your cards read, then by all means have them read. You would not believe the number of catholics and other breeds of christian I get coming to me for that kind of help and I gladly oblige them - for free. Just remember that the catholic religion makes up the rules as it goes along - it does NOT matter what THEY find acceptable or not - what is important is what YOU find acceptable. Go for it, I say.
Reply:yep, your messing with evil spirits when you do that.
Reply:Tarot cards show a lack of faith in the Lord. The Catholic's consider them Satanic. So if you choose to follow God don't mess with the cards. If you chose Satan go ahead and have your cards read.
Reply:Yes it is
Reply:It is a pagan thing - so I would say yes, it is against your religion.
Reply:As a Catholic (although not "Roman" Catholic) Priest - I'd certainly advise against it. St. Paul admonishes us to "walk by faith, not by sight".

Also - the OT Laws are clear...

All forms of the occult – divination, necromancy, astrology, hypnotism, fortune-telling, magic, etc. – are forbidden by God.
