Hello, i'm really big into Tarot cards..
does that make me Wiccan or Pagan?
i know its not a "Christian" thing to do but seriously i would love to know what religion it is...
What Religion Does Tarot Cards?
Spirituality is born from a personal occurrence with a divine, psychic or mystical experience of one form or another which inevitably connects a person to All that Is/God/Goddess/Allah/Great Spirit /whatever you want to call it.
Religion is second hand opinion of someone else’s divine experience. I think you will find that religions, and especially fanatical religions, tend to separate and divide people, while spirituality brings people together.
Thank God that Spirituality is on the increase!
For those who are ready, no explanation is necessary and for those who are not, no explanation is possible! http://www.psychic-junkie.com
Reply:Anyone from any religion can read tarot, they are just a tool.
Just as a side note, Wiccan is a specific religion while Pagan is a group of religions, just like catholic is a specific one while christianity is a group of religions
Reply:It isn't a religion, it's just a form of divination which many different religions can choose to use or not to use. Some Wiccans do use them, some don't.

Reply:neither. it's fortune telling. so simple a cookie could do it.
(well not really, it takes a while to learn, but once you get the hang of it it's simple)
Reply:No, not necessarily. Tarot cards can be used by anyone, it doesn't make you a Pagan or Wiccan just by virtue of your Tarot card usage. Perhaps you might want to look into those religions though if they interest you.
And don't listen to all the people on here saying it's demonic. It isn't. It is just another method of divination. Myself, I prefer runes.
Reply:Wiccans and Pagans both have members who use Tarot Cards, but so do Christians, and Jews.
It's about getting in touch with your inner voice, not what religion you are.
Reply:Anybody can do Tarot. Wiccans and neo-Pagans, Shamans and so on and so forth all use divination more often and more seriously than others though. As a Shaman, I use more than one form of divination, besides Tarot, so it just depends on the group.

Reply:They're not any religion in particular. It's a tool, just like a hammer or a wrench.
Reply:It's not part of a religion. It is a tool for divination.
Christian Spiritualists use them as much as pagans/Wiccans do.
It is not a religious thing. It is a divination thing.
Reply:doesn't really make you nothing but studying symbolism
Reply:Tarot cards are not religious. They're just cards.
The earliest decks had Christian symbology on them. But there are some now with Pagan symbology.
Reply:Tarot cards do not belong to any religion. Many Christians use them. They are (as has been said) a tool for divination. They are not evil, and reading them will not condemn you to hell (if you believe it exists). I am Pecti-Wita (a form of Hedge Witch, not Wiccan) and I have been reading them since 1965. I have picked up many other forms of divination since then. I have most recently developed some unique to me.
If you are Christian and wish to remain so, please don't listen to those who say it is evil because I think you know better. They are just ignorant and close-minded. If you find you are interested in possibly becoming wiccan (small "w", not coven based) get a book by Scott Cunningham called "Wicca, a guide to the Solitary Practitioner" or one of Raymond Bucklands books. But whatever you do, follow your heart.

Reply:I don't agree with all the people down there who think it's "of the devil" the tarot is a tool used by a lot of people for divinitation and fortune telling, etc. No it's not set to a particular religion, though pagans do use it, (it does not make you more "pagan-esque" than thou - as so many seem to think) I have used tarot cards a lot, yeah they're fun, but you can also read them to get an insight on your future, I think that my favorite deck is the Marsailles. =^.^= But just because you use them doesn't mean you're wiccan/pagan.
Reply:It makes you a reader of Tarot Cards.... and thats about it.
The Pope in the 14th century had his own deck of Tarot Cards (which is still on display at the Vatican if you are interested).
Too many Pagans think the Tarot makes them more 'pagan'.
Too many Christians think the Tarot is a 'sin'.
Reply:Being into Tarot cards means nothing more than being into Tarot cards. It does not make you Wiccan or Pagan.
Reply:Tarot cards are not part of any religion per say. A number of those that follow pagan religions use them, but then so do many Christian psychics as well. There are several decks available that use a variety of Specificaly Christian symbols on the cards and some that are marketed specifically for Christians.
Reply:Religion doesn't come into the art of reading Tarot.
Reply:Tarot cards can be used by anyone.
It isn't a stamp on your head saying "Wiccan"
Reply:Lots! Anyone can read the cards, regardless of religion. I'm Wiccan and I do it. Mom's Protestant and she reads them. Her sister's Catholic and she does them too, etc etc etc. You prob get the point!
Reply:Understand if it is not Christian it is satanic Matthew 12:30 only two sides and He gives you the choice
Reply:anyone can deal/read tarot cards.
one need not belong to a cult to do it.
Reply:It is of the Devil
Reply:Playing with tarot cards doesn't make you any particular religion. It just means that you like to play with with tarot cards. They're a bit silly and not very useful but mostly harmless.
Reply:It's called Demonic. And, its better refured to as the French Fry religion. Do you understand, i dont lie!
