Are Tarot Cards Sinful? Is reading them a Sin?

This question is directed primarily at Christians.

Would you consider reading tarot cards a sin? Why and why not?

Now, I know some people are going to answer that it is a sin because the Bible forbids sorcery and divination. So, instead of answering in that direction, what if they're used simply as a guide to learning more about yourself?

What if they're simply used as a tool to search the unconscious mind or bring out things you may have never thought of before? Is reading them still a sin in that case, as it becomes less divination and more self-reflection?

Are Tarot Cards Sinful? Is reading them a Sin?
tarot cards aren't sinful people are...
Reply:God forbids the use of sorcery and divination because they are dangerous. Things like that are associated with pagan religions, and they usually worship pagan gods. If we aren't on God's side, we're on Satan's side. You can sit on the fence if you want to, but the fence belongs to Satan. Satan is a liar. He wants to mislead everybody, and he'll try any trick. Even if you're using tarot cards simply to discover things about yourself, Satan is behind it. Try journaling instead.
Reply:I do not believe that Tarot cards are sinful. They are so helpful in self reflection. Most people refuse to learn and are afraid to accept new knowledge from this ancient and sacred source, that could very well help them.
Reply:Do you think it is sin? If you do it is. However Tarot reading is divination. Sin or not sin that is between you and your God or gods.
Reply:You can bring untold problems into your life through any dabbling into the occult. I strongly suggest that you have nothing to do with that area oflife.
Reply:yes, it's a sin. they are used as one of the many tools of communicating with the devil.

when you recieve answers from these cards, they are only coming from satan, and no matter how much you see or how little you see from these cards, it's all from satan himself, and thats just asking for trouble. you are conversing with the one who wants to damn your soul to the firey pits of hell so he wont suffer eternity alone. if you could know anything about your future, but the only way to know was to see satan face to face and allow him in your life, would you still want to know...same thing , you just can't see him.
Reply:I'm a pagan, however I do wish to tell you something about tarot. tarot is not ment to be anything more than insight into your life. Its not ment to make decisions for you, unveil the truth, or show you how to win the lottery. mainly its to allow you to see things you may have missed, Insight into a problem to help you come up with a solution, Advice on how something may go. In general tarot is ment to guide and help people, however never to be taken extremley seriously. I am a practicioner myself and I do value the insight they give me, yet don't consider them the unchangable foreboding future that I have no influence on. Think of them as the road map of your life. They can show you which roads you could take but ultimately you still decide where to go.

As for wether they are sinful or not I can't say for you as religiously we walk different paths. i wish you luck in whatever you do. God bless.
Reply:I don't understand how cards arranged in a certain order can reveal anything about your subconscious.

The reason they are considered a Sin, is because they allow demonic forces to get a hold upon our lives. You may use them once for "self-reflection" but you will eventually get to the point where you will rely upon them for every decision you make most likely. That is where Satan can take a hold, and use you for evil.
Reply:Yes tarot card readings are a very sinful act against God, it is witchcraft I believe, the reason it is a sin is because it is of the devil, God wants you to learn from him, accept him as your Lord and Saviour, reading tarot cards is accepting the devils ways, and hell is his way, and thats where he wants to lead you.
Reply:Absolutely not. Each religion, no matter what they say, has taken part of one form or another of future-reading.
Reply:The bible says have NOTHING to do with them. So, I would say, have nothing to do with them!
Reply:Tarot cards are a tool, as you had mentioned.

They are NOT a sin.

Anybody who claims that they are, are believing and expressing that out of F E A R.

FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN.
Reply:From my perspective the Bible is sorcery and divination as well.
Reply:It is a sin. I shows that we don't have faith in God. God values our faithfulness the most. If you have any questions about your life, don't ask cards. Ask Jesus Christ to guide and give direction in your life.
Reply:Depends on what your beliefs are, if you believe in god %26amp; the bible then you should not use them. In my own personal experience i would say stay away from them all together even if you have no belief.
Reply:Yes.
Reply:It depends on how you define sin. Are you sticking to the 10 commandments? Then it does not fit in any catagory. But if you look at Genesis, Adam and Eve ate forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge, thereby giving them enlightenment and free will. That is the original sin. If you are a new testament kind of person, here is a surprise. Jesus studied at the temple with the High Priests. He was taught Cabalistic Magic (how he later performed miracles). The major arcana of the Tarot is based on the tree of life (see apple tree in Genesis as well); the cornerstone of the Cabala. So in that sense, Jesus studied Tarot and praticed Magic. The celebrations of his birth, death and resurrection coincide with and imitate pagan rituals. The Bible which we read today was rewritten by Constantine on his deathbed. Want an interesting read? Google him. Then define sin for yourself. I personally define sin as doing harm to myself or others. The rest is just another person's attempt to control me. I read a quote once that helped clear it up for me: "Religion is for people who are afraid of going to hell. Spirituality is for people who have been there."
Reply:I suppose that depends on your definition of sin. *I* don't believe they are sinful, but rather a means of meditation and self-reflection as you said. The cards present choices and may show insight into possible solutions to current problems or issues.

It sounds as though you already believe this deep down and just want to make sure you're not doing anything wrong. You're not, in my opinion it's perfectly ok to consult the cards for the purpose you stated.
Reply:Tarot cards were apparently developed as a story-telling device to record the secret story of the marriage of Jesus to Mary Magdalene. When did they become sources of divination? Somewhere around the time it became illegal punishable upon death to speak of Christ being married go Mary Magdalene, because He was married to the church and therefore could not have an earthly wife. When I did a reading at age 19 when I was interested in learning about the occult, it was 100% right on (but they are also apperceptive). When I tried to burn them at age 20, they wouldn't burn. It was very freaky. I ended up burying them. T. S. Elliot makes reference to them in "The Wasteland" (which was why I got a deck and did a reading). I haven't used them since, and won't use them again. They have an uncomfortable spiritual sense about them.
Reply:if u have 2 ask . u already know the answer .
Reply:I don't believe reading cards is a sin, if you truly believe it was a gift God gave to you to help find your path, and to help others find their paths.
Reply:Anything that you believe in is your own truth, therefore don't let anyone tell you what is right or wrong, only you can make that determination. (My opinion is that right and wrong don't exist in the first place, so neither does your question)
Reply:The reason why things are sin, is not only does it goes against God's holiness and way, but many times it is harmful to us. Yes, they are a tool; a tool that can open up doors to the spirit realm, letting in deceitful, wicked, conniving, spirits. These spirits may cause possession or at the least influence. Even if they seem helpful, for years even, they are in some way leading you away from the salvation offered through Christ's sacrifice. They can lead you to believe you do not need salvation. God doesn't call things sin just to say it.
Reply:The Jinn live 1000 years and they know exactly what to do with you, because you know not what to do with yourself.
Reply:hello, I'm a reader and when i became a christian i was devastated and woundered if my readings would damn me, I went to my paster and expland to him what i felt the lord had gave me a special gift and wanted to know what to do with it and his reply was if i did it with out the devil involved and did it for guideness he seen no problem in it. to this day i still fight the un sureness right and wrong .,in the 7 years i have been reading nothing bad has ever come to me and my life with GOD is stronger then ever and I praise him for this.and to this day he still leads me in the right path .
