Is it true that Tarot Cards only work when you are doing a reading if someone GAVE the deck to you? Like as a gift?

i have heard that, but i haven't heard any theories or reasoning to back it up.





a deck you pick personally has a special connection to you because you can feel each deck "calling" you in a different way, and the one you pick might have the strongest connection





conversely, a deck gifted to you can also have strong ties to you because of the emotional input into choosing the deck. i've heard that a deck that you have made or that someone has made and gifted to you is the most powerful of all, though that's just something i've heard, not something i necessarily believe in.

p.s. i bought my first deck myself, and it works the best. my second deck was gifted to me and i've not had a SINGLE accurate reading with it.... though the pictures are nice =)

Reply:I've heard this, too, but in my experience, it isn't true. My first deck was given to me, but no one would ever buy me another one, even tho it was on my Amazon.com list forever (and they'd buy everything else off there!). So I bought my own, and it works just as well as the other. I've since bought other decks, and have never noticed a difference. I prefer my first deck, but just because I think it's the prettiest.
